Liverpool Held by West Ham, to give title rivals hope
West Ham 1 Liverpool 1
Liverpool have dropped more points in their pursuit of the Premier League title as they struggled to defeat West Ham. With the lead of 5 points before this gameweek against title rivals Manchester City. The lead was cut to 2 points after City defeated Arsenal yesterday. Liverpool had the chance to get that 5 points gap back between the two teams but failed to do so, after they were held the lead is cut to 3 points.
We expect Liverpool to fly past these teams with the form they showed at the beginning of the season. 28 years since they last won the League title, it looked like this was the season that they could lift the trophy. But is the pressure of not winning the League title for a long time getting on the nerves of the players? Recent style of play from Liverpool has not been the same it was 2 to 3 weeks ago. The team looked tired in this game against West Ham, the free flowing football wasn’t anywhere near to be seen. The fast counter attacks that they were known for is missing. Also, the form of Mohammed Salah, their best player has dipped in recent games.
In the match, Liverpool looked like the 2nd best side in the first half. Despite creating a lot of chances by West Ham in the first 45 minutes, Liverpool were the one who scored first with a brilliant goal from Sadio Mane in the 22nd minute. But Westham took only 6 minutes to level things back to square one. No goals were scored in the whole match after that and ended 1-1 at Full-Time.
Manchester City recent form
Besides all of that, their title rivals Manchester City has found their form back. They are scoring goals for fun. The return of their catalyst player Kevin De Bruyne certainly has improved their style and their form. They defeated Arsenal to cut the point gap between them and Liverpool to 3 points. Certainly with the form Manchester city are in if this continues league leaders will definitely feel the pressure from the rivals. The good thing for Liverpool is that they dont have tough fixtures left in the League. They just need to face their arch rivals Manchester United away from home. This will be the match all the City fans and players will be keeping an eye on as they chase for the top spot.
